Student Researcher
- Investigate the role of RNA-binding proteins and RNA processing in maintaining cellular homeostasis and how these processes go awry in cancer to establish a fundamental basis for therapeutic inquiry.
- Apply a combination of biochemistry, molecular biology, and mouse modeling techniques to pursue scientific questions.
- Perform key experimental procedures to investigate the impact of mutations in PCBP1 that occur in colorectal cancer patients.
- Design and execute site-directed mutagenesis using nested PCR to introduce mutations into the PCBP1 gene.
- Previously, I have done maxi-preps, mini-preps, gel purification, gel electrophoresis, redigests, and PCR.
- Create a Matlab program to speed up Western Blot Quantification by approximately 50%.
- Utilize Alphafold modeling to predict single-mutation protein stability prior to wet lab testing.
